The first part of the process involves understanding your financial situation and credit history so you can decide what mortgage amount and payment is right for you. Before purchasing a home, we recommend that you:

  • Obtain a copy of your credit report. If it is inaccurate or incomplete, you will have time make your credit report as presentable as possible to a lender.
  • Before you visit a lender, collect financial information such as W-2 forms, tax returns, bank statements, and documentation of other income sources such as investments, dividends, and disability, alimony, or child-support payments.
  • Once your lender conditionally approves a loan, you will know what you can afford and we can begin searching for properties. In the meantime, you can begin assessing the market online via the Multiple Listing Service.
